Salsa is a once in a lifetime girl - the most winningest chocolate Border Collie bitch in AKC breed history (conformation). She has over 13 group placements and won the prestigious Kentuckiana Tartan Border Collie Club specialty show in 2024. She has won an AOM and Best in Bred By Exhibitor Sweepstakes at the BCSA national in 2023 at 18 months old and returned in 2024 to earn Select Bitch.

I've been told Salsa is a dangerous Border Collie because she makes everyone think they want one. She has a huge personality and we jokingly call her "The Movie Star". She is incredibly eager to please and is highly praise motivated. She will do anything for food and has moderate toy drive. She absolutely loves being the center of attention at dog shows and thinks everyone is there to see her. Still, her first love is Scentwork/Nosework where she is an eager and devoted worker. She holds an NW1 with NACSW and is working in master level AKC with several Qs across the 4 elements. After taking 2025 off to have puppies, we hope to finish up some master titles shortly so we can begin playing in Detective.

On stock, Salsa is on the softer side and is cautious of being incorrect. She has a bit too much fun going to the head but is coming along nicely at weekly practices. We recently trialed in AHBA and earned our first Q towards her HTAD I.

Salsa also enjoys agility and dock diving though it is hard to fit it all in and we have only trialed a couple of weekends in these things. In two weekends trialing, she earned her novice AKC standard and fast agility titles with placements. For dock, she has jumped two weekends and jumped out of open into senior so we need to try again this summer to complete a title!

Salsa was bred by Laura L. Gilbert with Hobbiton Border Collies and Belgian Sheepdogs. Her great grandsire and granddam are both Dual Champions (herding and conformation champions) and her dam is well on her way with her HXA both on sheep and ducks.
